Irony of all ironies...

Today, I subbed at one of my least favorites schools.

It was awful. I was told several times to eff myself, as well as called names. The only good class I had was the seniors.

And to make it worse, I had to show a documentary about the history of the diamond industry in Sierra Leone and Angola called "Blood Diamonds" (not the same as the Leonardo diCaprio movie). You can watch the entire film (I think) via the link.

The students' profound responses?

"Why don't they speak real English?! G**, you can't even understand what they're saying!"

"Why do they keep repeating the same stuff over and over again? This is so stupid, man."

I wanted to strangle them. Literally.

When I called Nich during my prep period in tears, he said, "Of all the subs they could have had to show this particular documentary about an issue on that particular continent ..."

Yeah.

It's not Christmas anymore...

So I need your help!

Nich was reading over my shoulder the other day, and he asked if I was going to keep the reindeer year-round. I have to admit, I had intended on changing the background after the holidays.

It is May 1.
