"If the God you believe in as an idea doesn’t start showing up in what happens to you in your own life, you have as much cause for concern as if the God you don’t believe in as an idea does start showing up. It is absolutely crucial, therefore, to keep in constant touch with what is going on in your own life’s story and to pay close attention to what is going on in the stories of others’ lives. If God is present anywhere, it is in those stories that God is present. If God is not present in those stories, then they are scarcely worth telling." ~ Frederick Buechner

Red & Gold for a Golden Lady

We celebrated our friend Sher's 50th birthday over the weekend at a surprise birthday party.

I've tried to upload the video of her walking into the party about a million times now with no luck, so you'll just have to settle for pictures.

We were told to bring index cards with memories with Sher, as well as pictures of us together. We put these into a scrapbook when we got to the party. Even Little B wrote colored an index card and had his own picture (of Sher's first time holding him, the first night we were home after he was born).
Since we're moving soon, I felt that a handmade afghan would be an appropriate birthday/thank-you-for-being-wonderful gift. She likes to decorate in reds and golds a lot, so I selected colors accordingly. I hope she loves it!
