I've talked about the wonderful Holmbergs before here on the blog. N, B, and I just love them, and they have been such marvelous friends and surrogate "parents" and "grandparents" to us during the past couple years.
This afternoon, after our 3-hour-long naps following an early rising for the ADK Balloon Festival, we drove around visiting friends and delivering a few handmade, thanks-for-loving-on-us gifts.
One of the more special gifts I had made was for the Holmbergs. Jill is a fellow crafter, and she sews beautifully. We have been on the receiving end of several of her creations, and I wanted to give her something as well.
Remember my sneak peek a little while ago?
Ta-da! Here is the final product!
"If the God you believe in as an idea doesn’t start showing up in what happens to you in your own life, you have as much cause for concern as if the God you don’t believe in as an idea does start showing up. It is absolutely crucial, therefore, to keep in constant touch with what is going on in your own life’s story and to pay close attention to what is going on in the stories of others’ lives. If God is present anywhere, it is in those stories that God is present. If God is not present in those stories, then they are scarcely worth telling." ~ Frederick Buechner
