"If the God you believe in as an idea doesn’t start showing up in what happens to you in your own life, you have as much cause for concern as if the God you don’t believe in as an idea does start showing up. It is absolutely crucial, therefore, to keep in constant touch with what is going on in your own life’s story and to pay close attention to what is going on in the stories of others’ lives. If God is present anywhere, it is in those stories that God is present. If God is not present in those stories, then they are scarcely worth telling." ~ Frederick Buechner

Love on My Window

When I opened up the blinds in the dining room this morning, I found this:
Proverbs 31:29
He knew I would need an extra dose of grace and encouragement today, after a long night of being mostly awake with our stuffy-nosed B. I am muscle-sore and a bit heart-cranky this morning, but between this message of love, my coffee cup reminder, and a cheerful-despite-being-sick little one, I'm finding just enough to go on.

  1. that maybe one of the sweetest love notes ever. just how thoughtful and clever and unexpected.

    1. I think being compared to the Proverbs 31 woman is possibly the highest compliment my husband could possibly give me. He first mentioned it about a month ago, saying that he had been reading that very passage and had the thought, "Wow, my wife is like that!" It made me tear up!

And the surprise of finding the note on the window was the icing on the cake!
